My name is Sam Baguley.​

I'm a self-taught artist from Manchester, in the UK, and I've been painting since I was a little girl, so, for well over 45 years. I remember my mum painting local landscapes in oil paints when I was very small, so I guess I get my love of art and ability to draw and paint from her (it definitely wasn't from my dad - he could barely write legibly!)

Although I studied Art A'Level at high school and went to university to study fine art & English, I left after just a couple of months. University life just wasn't for me...although, looking back, I do wish I'd persevered with it. I went on to take an equine business course at college (always obsessed with horses!), and spent many years trying out different jobs from showjumping groom for the Canadian chef d'equipe, to bra fitter, to customer service manager in a vain effort to find something I enjoyed.

No matter which job I was doing, I always painted and sold pet portraits and other commissions to bring in extra income. It was only in my 40s that I was brave enough to actually become a full-time professional artist. See, it's never too late!

My ambition now is to stage a solo exhibition, and to see my artwork in galleries around the world.
